Prom – 2011 Prom Tour

By In News, School Events, Testimonials On April 21, 2011

Well as Lupe Fiasco’s newest hit goes… “Alright, already the show goes on” and thats exactly what happen with the first show of the 2011 Prom Tour. We were fighting high MPH winds, torrential rain, flash floods, thunderstorms, hail, and tornado warnings! We knew the show had to go on so we got all the equipment loaded into the venue for the prom as quickly as we could.

We ran a 30ft light rig smack dab right over the middle of the dance floor! Our goal was to have the lights above the students and transform their prom into a concert! We had lights sweeping all over the 500+ students below, we had custom spotlighting, we flooded the room in their theme colors, and in the middle of this monstrous light rig, we took it back old school with a MASSIVE DISCO BALL!

The venue was completely transformed from a school gym to one of the best looking proms we have seen yet! Their theme was “Poseidon’s Kingdom” so we flooded the room with blue and aqua colors to go along with the theme’s colors. We positioned our lights on the disco ball so the beams reflected on top of one another giving off a water like effect.

As students arrived in the venue you could here the “OMG’s” and “This is amazing” all around the room.

Our biggest goal for the “2011 Prom Tour” is to re-create the traditional school dance. School dances have been held the same way with most schools for years. The students would come in to see the standard two speakers, and proceed to dance to the YMCA and the Chicken dance. There would be some simple par cans that just turned on and off with the same colors. This is the 2011 Prom Tour, not the 1972 tour. We want to make school dances fun and exciting again! We want to set a new standard for school dances!

Throughout the evening we didn’t see any students sitting down, they were all on the dance floor fist pumping, jumping, and really just experiencing what the brains behind JJDJ Entertainment had envisioned for their 2011 Prom Tour.

As the evening ended we heard from numerous teachers how the students were saying this was the “BEST PROM EVER!” and from the prom coordinators about how the prom was a HUGE success! This was the HIGHEST selling school dance they have EVER had!

We don’t just show up to your dance with some CDs and a pair of speakers, printing off the top songs from the local radio stations the day of. We plan our school dances for MONTHS in advanced working with the schools helping them promote their dance!

It may be too late now to get on the 2011 Prom Tour, but “Homecoming 2011” is right around the corner, contact us today to start planning your school’s dream dance!
